The weekly books
The weekly incomes and costs are booked at the start of every game week; game-day income comes after each home game's broadcast. The finances page shows every week's income, costs and transactions.
The board
The board watches the money and sets a salary budget: your weekly payroll may be at most 68 % of the income it expects each week. It checks the budget whenever you sign or renew a player.
In debt the board gets stricter, step by step:
- Below zero it is worried, and you pay 1 % interest a week on the debt.
- When the debt passes 4 weeks of expected income it bans signings.
- When it passes 8 weeks it puts players up for auction itself, the worst value for money first. Players nobody buys are released.
Each step lifts by itself when the balance recovers. The board never fires you.
Fans
Your fans' mood rises with wins and falls with losses, more in the playoffs and most in a final, and slowly settles back when nothing happens. The number of fans follows the mood over the weeks. More and happier fans mean more tickets, more merchandise and better sponsors.
Staff
You can hire a head coach, an assistant coach, a goalie coach, a physiotherapist, a scout and a youth coach. Each has a weekly salary; hiring and letting go take effect from next week.
Questions and answers
You pay 1 % interest a week on the debt, and the board starts to worry. If the debt keeps growing it bans signings and then sells players. Sell, cut costs or win your way out of it: every step lifts once the balance recovers.
Either your payroll would go over the salary budget, or the board has banned signings because of the debt. The finances page says which.
